Feature Request - Authoritative TODAY() functions

Context

  • All Automations run on sheet owner time (in my case, Pacific time).
  • Sheet columns generally use universal / UTC time in the backend (i.e. Created, Modified columns – so the time stamps are authoritative).
  • However, the Today() function populating the Day column for the workplan is relative to the time zone of the sheet user. Thus, when you access the sheet for workers in varying time zones, you get different results.

Feature Request

We need an authoritative datetime comparison for the TODAY() function, esp. an option to evaluate today based on an arbitrary/owner Time Zone or even UTC.

We have teams working across many timezones and columns derived from the TODAY() modify based on the logged in user. This is absurd for crossfunctional teams working in many time zones as it can create invalidate comparisons (i.e. if I open the sheet in London, it will display different dates when a set time might be the basis of the function, i.e. if the weekday is Friday, we want to adjust today to add seven days to begin planning the next week).

Currently, the disconnect between TODAY(), workflow automations time zones, and sheet admin columns create issues.
