ODBC links are slow to update

Has there been a change to the system recently affecting ODBC links to data? I have a sheet that has been running for around a year which pulls together the results from several forms - the ODBC link is set to run automatically as soon as the file is opened, and up until a couple of weeks ago this was relatively quick (taking maybe 30secs to update for all of the forms). In the last couple of weeks the number of results hasn't changed that dramatically (less than 200 additional entries across all forms) but the results are now taking around 10-15mins to update. Is anyone else seeing the same issue?

Data size or settings might be the culprit.

thanks KlausNoah - but it seems strange that the data size or settings haven't changed dramatically overnight, but the update time has changed dramatically - 30 secs up to 10-15mins - are there any settings I should be checking in particular?
