Create Sign-in sheet for Class using formula

I am trying to develop a training class pre-filled roster based on criteria for the class.
If a training class is created for Role X, then the roster will be automatically created using the Role to pull from a master contact list of multiple roles to include the person's name and email address.
I was thinking of using the class creation form data for the parent row, and then based on a formula for the role being trained the child rows will be populated from the master contact list of matching roles.

Hi @Kevin7859!
Currently, Smartsheet does not have a built-in way to auto-generate hierarchy (parent/child relationships). However, there is an existing product idea that you can vote on: Automatically assigning a row to a parent line once an intake form is filled.
That said, you might be able to accomplish a similar solution using a master sheet and forms with the following steps:
1.Create an intake form to gather trainee names, roles, and other required details. Learn more here: Collect information with a form.
2.Use automation to move rows to different sheets based on the trainee’s role. Learn more here: Work with the move rows action.
3.Pull contact information using formulas from a master contact list. Learn more here: Formula combinations for cross-sheet references.
4.Build a report that consolidates all the data. Learn more here: Build a row report.
5.Group the data by role to display structured results. Learn more here: Group data to organize results in report builder.
I hope this helps!
