Reminder email received but a trigger/alarm bell was not setup

An employee received a reminder email about a specific row in a shared SmartSheet file. An alert was not set up. Could this be spam? How could this email be triggered?

You can send an Update Request directly from a row as well.

The Sheet owner did not trigger an email to be sent. I am trying to figure out if it is spam or if there is a way to see who triggered the email to be sent.

It doesn't have to be from the sheet owner. Anyone with editor or above permissions to the sheet can send an update request from the row.
