Workflow Notifications (Alerts)
The Manufacturing department in my company created a sheet to track requests related to downtime. I was asked to set up several workflows. One of these workflows is to notify the Head of Manufacturing and his direct reports whenever a new request has been submitted or the status of a record changes. These alerts are sent to specific people. It is working well.
I just received a new request. They would now like the requestor to be notified whenever the status of a record changes.
Problem Statement: The column type for requestor name was created as a Text/Number field in the sheet. In addition, there is no email address requested in the form and/or sheet.
Based on the above scenario, does the column type need to be changed to contact list or is there some other solution that can be used to send an alert to the requestor to notify them when the status changes.

@SmartsheetPM I had a similar issue with a Request Tracker sheet. I added Requestor Email to the form and made Requestor Name a contact column.
Then I was able to send automated messages to the requestor.
