I work in Transportation for a large school district in Oregon. Is anyone out there involved in transportation and if so how do you use Smartsheet? I'd love to get some ideas and maybe clarify what we are doing.

I work in a school district in Grand Junction, CO. While we don't utilize Smartsheet in transportation here, the idea has come up by some of our licensed users. We really want to use Smartsheet to leverage field trips and employee travel requests. One of our licensed users even built it where it would generate an editable PDF document to appease what our finance department requires. However, we have some elements within our district that aren't as technologically savvy and so we haven't been able to engage with the platform on that level yet as a tool.
I could also see other uses of Smartsheet for transportation, including maintenance schedules for vehicles, automation to remind our coordinator of when registrations are up for renewal and what not.
Hello @Rachael H , I am not in transportation, but, company vehicle inventory is a must. Below are common hurdles that can be solutioned in Smartsheet. There may be some features that only the Enterprise Plan can easily implement. Lower plans require more design work.Vehicle Stages 1) Request Form (e.g., upload license, insurance, etc.) 2) Approval Workflow (e.g., compliance review) 3) Provisioning (e.g., vehicle clean bill of health) 4) Issued to Driver 5) Accidents 6) Returns 7) Retirement (e.g., scrapped, insurance total out or sold) The below questions will help me determine what capabilities you will want to leverage…or need.Questions 1) Do you expect to acquire new vehicles regularly? 2) Do you experience a steady volume of vehicle accidents? 3) Are you looking to be able to report on overall inventor status? 4) Are you looking to integrate live tracking into Smartsheet of vehicles? Any further information you can provide about your goals will help depict a clearer picture of your specific needs.

We use Smartsheet for a lot of things here. Our training department uses it for new applicant tracking and trainee tracking, driver seniority dates, and more. Routing uses it for tracking sibling rider requests and route change tracking. Transportation administration uses it for almost everything from project planning to intentional tracking and supply orders.
I believe fleet does use it for maintenance and auto notifications. We even have a fire extinguisher check off!
