For groups of tasks, the overall heading bar for the group is always gray. I'd like to change it's color to signify status (red, green, yellow). Is this possible.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean but you can change the heading (Parent) via the Conditional Formatting rules and it's also possible to automate how the parents should look thru formulas.

Are you referring to the Column Headers? If so, you cannot change the color.
Here's an example, the task group is 'QE Testing' and in the gantt chart I can color code tasks but not the top bar that shows duration for the group.

I think the ask is how can you change the color of the parent row. In the example above, note the gray color of the rolled-up bar for the orange bar tasks.
I'm looking for the same answer. I can change the task bar color for individual tasks, but not for the parent task bar for the group of tasks.
