Refining a Smartsheet That Tracks Corporate Giving

My Smartsheet tracks our corporate donations requests [approved/denied, in-kind or cash, local or abroad, etc.]. I'd like the dashboard to reflect the top 10 focus area of approved organizations. Are there any formula(s) for that? The column type is a drop-down list. The values are as follows:
Animal Welfare
Arts & Culture
Children
Children Critical Illness
Community Development
Disabilities
Disaster Relief
Education
Environment
Food Security/Homelessness
Health
Special Needs
Sports
Violence Intervention/Prevention
Women's Empowerment

Without seeing an example of your sheet, wanted to ask if you have tried using something as simple as a report that pulls from your main sheet, filters to show only approved items, grouped by focus area (your drop down list), uses the summary function to count and show how many approvals there are for each focus area, and then sort the report by approval amounts to show top ones?

Hi Shonda,
Presently, any changes to the Smartsheet automatically updates in my Dashboard. The creator (no longer with the company) set up a Donation Request Metrics. That's why I'd prefer a formula.

Understood. Have you tried using the Summary feature:
Use the "Summary" function.Β Select the field you want to summarize (e.g., donation amount) and choose "Top" from the summary options.Β Enter 10 as the number of items you want to display.Β This will create a new field that displays a summary of the top 10 donations/organizations (based on the Summary criteria you use.) Note: You may need a helper column if you want to count how many approved donations a company has and use the COUNTIF function there.

Can we hop on a Zoom call?

I am in meetings all day today but would be happy to meet tomorrow if you are free between 10 - 11 AM CST or Friday between 9 -10 AM CST. If not, inputting a Smartsheet Pro Desk call is your best option (and one I like to use) and they can walk you step by step or provide more options.
