[Customer Released] Enhanced global updates now generally available!

We are excited to announce the launch of enhanced global updates!

Enhanced global updates for Smartsheet Control Center introduces a faster, more reliable change management experience for portfolio level updates. Now customers with eligible blueprints can instantly sync all active projects with the latest published version of the blueprint source template and easily make updates to meet evolving needs. With EGU, Control Center program leads can make multiple changes at once, directly within their blueprint source template; preview an entire project to validate changes; then publish the changes to sync all active projects with the latest template structure.

In addition to replacing the legacy column, report, and dashboard global updates, with EGU you can also add or remove sheets, forms, reports, and dashboards, remove columns, modify column formulas and forms, and change folder organization. 

Enhanced global updates is an exciting glimpse into the future of modern portfolio management in Smartsheet. We are committed to simplifying the experience for all of our customers. Soon it will be easier than ever to build, standardize, and scale your portfolios directly in core Smartsheet. Stay tuned — there’s more to come!

To be eligible for Enhanced Global Updates, blueprints must:

• be created after December 4, 2024
• be single tier
• store projects in new workspaces
• have no optional templates

Note: EGU is intended for programs where project deviation from the template is not desired. If you want to preserve project-level customization of template-provided columns (like modifications to dropdown options or column formulas), we do not recommend enabling EGU for that blueprint at this time.

I was really excited for these updates, but I'm disappointed that they're not available for blueprints that use a single/pre-existing workspace.

hi @Emily Eberle-Levine,

I can see in EGU the widgets that take data from Sheet Summary are not working properly - either those are missing in the provisioned projects or there is no change at all.

I already filled the form for EGU feedback but there was no response yet. Could you tell me whether it works?

Hi @kowal, sheet-summary based dashboard metric widgets are not currently supported in EGU.
