Generate Documents - Using Forms
Hi,
I’m setting up service reporting in Smartsheet.
I’ve already created my main sheet and set up the data collection form: Service Reporting Form. On my form, there are two types of jobs people can select: Service and Inspection.
However, I actually need three different PDF templates, depending on the type of job and technician:
- Service PDF
- Fire Alarm Tech PDF
- Sprinkler Tech PDF
Is there a way in Smartsheet to have it automatically generate a different PDF depending on which option is selected in a dropdown (for example, if the user chooses "Fire Alarm Tech," it uses the Fire Alarm template)?
Can I map different form responses to different PDF templates, or set up this kind of conditional document generation?

Darren is 100% spot on with how to do this.
I created an example automation workflow of what this would look like. Each of the "Generate Document" actions would generate a different type of document, depending on the dropdown value.

@EvanFireLifeSafety Sure, you can have multiple PDF templates associated with a sheet. You can then either choose to generate manually and choose the template you want, or have automations trigger that will generate a PDF and choose the template you want based on conditional paths in the automated workflow.
