Task Assignment

Apologies for the basic question.

I want to assign tasks for update. Am I able to limit the resource's ability to modify/update only their rows in the sheet? I don't want resources to add rows to the sheet or change another resource's rows.

Thanks!

I think the solution is going to revolve around how your sheet is shared. A "Current User" filter exists in Reports. Meaning that only those rows where the Contact in a given column (e.g. "Assigned to") matches the person's login. By giving people access to the report but not the underlying sheet, you can limit access to what each user sees and interacts with. HOWEVER, remember that if someone is going to view or interact with data via a report, they only see what they're shared to. So you'll need to review the underlying sheet sharing too. It seems like this is contradictory - until you consider that setting up a WorkApp enables you to share a report WITHOUT sharing the underlying sheet. You can also control access using Dynamic View.

Whichever way you decide to proceed, good luck!
