Checklist Question
Good afternoon. I have a sheet with rows of items. Item 1, Item 2, Item 3, etc and my columns are all set up with check boxes and comments and a bunch of other stuff. Is there a way to create some sort of automation or link so that in every cell of a new column I could link to some sort of larger checklist.
Right now for Item 1 I can check off main task 1, main task 2, add a note etc, but then I want to click something that takes me to a large checklist that has something like 100 small check list items. The checklist will have too many items to include them as columns in the main sheet.
Ideally the completion % of this new sub-checklist will feed back in to the main sheet.
I can do this manually by just creating a new sheet, name the item at the top, create all of the rows with the checklist items, but I would like some way to automate this process when I go back to my main sheet and add Item 4 so that sub-checklist is already built.
Hopefully this makes sense. It's very hard to explain.

What you describe makes sense. And the fact that you can manually do it means that it could work in an automated way.
Several ways to automate it including:
- Smarsheet Control Center
- 3rd party add-on that can automate similar to Control Center (ask me if you're interested!)
- Custom API script
- Using Make or Zapier, likely able to do this
For all of these you would have a unique identifier on your top level sheet, check a box to create the checklist, then you'd have some links back to track completion status.

@DGraybill I found some time to show how this would work.
