Display Child Task Statuses When Grouping by Task Owner in Project Activity View
Description:
Currently, when using the Project Activity view and grouping by Task Owner, the statuses of child tasks are not displayed unless the parent task is manually expanded. This behavior makes it difficult to quickly assess the progress of individual tasks within a project, especially when managing large or complex task hierarchies.
In contrast, grouping by Status provides clear visibility of each taskβs current state, including child tasks. However, this comes at the expense of losing the organizational clarity offered by grouping by owner.
Enhancement Request:
I would like to request an enhancement that allows child task statuses to be visible or surfaced when grouping by Task Owner in the Project Activity viewβsimilar to how statuses are shown when grouping by Status.
This would:
- Improve visibility into project progress at a granular level.
- Eliminate the need to expand each parent task manually.
- Support better task ownership tracking and accountability.
- Enhance usability and efficiency for project managers and collaborators.
Optional Solution Ideas:
- Add an option to toggle visibility of child task statuses within grouped views.
- Allow "Separate Cards" functionality to be available across all grouping types.
- Provide a hybrid grouping feature (e.g., Owner + Status) to visualize multiple task attributes.
This enhancement would greatly improve task tracking and reporting, especially for teams managing projects with multiple layers of tasks.
