API Deprecations announced today seem to suggest no replacement for GET TEMPLATES

Hello.

Today I received an email that I'm sure other developers did as well about changes to your API, and on first glance most of it seemed very reasonable and I appreciate the notice.

HOWEVER - there is one API that is of critical need to my application, namely the GET TEMPLATES endpoint. The email today suggests that this is to be deprecated without replacement.

I would suggest that this particular deprecation without replacement is unacceptable. We have a long-running integration that serves mutual customers of our company and Smartsheet that uses this endpoint and depends on it. How should we get this information about available templates for an authenticated Smartsheet user after this deprecation?

I filed a support ticket for this, but keep getting back merely repeats of the same information that was sent by email.

I think it is reasonable to imagine that we could get more information about this, and some work path toward keeping our long-standing integration with Smartsheet working for the benefit of our mutual customers.

Please advise.

You did the right thing by reaching out to Support, as they can work with you directly on this matter. At this moment, it’s best to continue working with our Support team, as they have the appropriate resources to help you get a resolution as soon as possible. We really appreciate your patience in the meantime.

Thanks @Isaac A. for your response. Unfortunately support, so far, has been completely useless. I have clearly laid out my dilemma exactly as I have with you, and all your support team does is repeat back to me, verbatim, the exact language of the announcement about the deprecation that I was sent by email. Which is both a waste of time and a bit of an insult. I asked a second time and they replied with the exact same boilerplate non-answer. I requested an escalation and they merely stopped answering. Addressing this on this forum was a second choice because support has been less than useless. Can you connect me with someone on the product team? It really seems like you (meaning Smartsheet) simply don't care about breaking existing successful and vital integrations. Since support is useless on this, what is your next best suggestion?

Adding here just yesterday after days of no word got confirmation from support that they can escalate this question.

I saw this conversation and wanted to help clarify. Currently there are no outlined plans to replace the GET Templates endpoint, as you can see in the deprecation details listed in the API docs, here.

I'm glad to hear that Support was able to escalate this for you so that you can present your current use-case of the template endpoint.
