Automation and Multiple Outcomes

Is there any way, within a single automation workflow to have multiple outputs?

What I mean is I have a workflow that triggers when a cell value changes to a certain value (e.g "Approved"). I then want to have a date entered into another cell (easy enough) and also then generate a document to send to the original submitter.

In workflows, its not possible to add multiple outputs so one to send the form, then after that one to log the date, etc. I know I could do this with separate workflows, each based on each other to complete the next step.

I just find it a bit hard to keep up with all the workflows, especially when there are lots overall.
