Find information within a formula

Hello,

I am trying to find information within formulas that reference a given cell using CTRL + F. The data is in the cell [2028 (CY)]214. I have tried the following: [2028 (CY)]214, *[2028 (CY)]214, = [2028 (CY)]214, = * [2028 (CY)]214. However, it returns 'no matches found'. Does anyone have advice or is this not possible? Thank you.

Hi @Greg_M - as of now we can only find the displayed values!

However, there are two workarounds, and both require some rework!

Add a suffix (e.g., CY214) to the names of all those columns that contain this formula; and then create a sheet filter to filter out all the columns ending with that suffix. OR
Each source cell (that refers to the CY 214 cell) should display in its beginning or end — "CY214" (as a sort of temporary token). So once CY214 becomes a displayed value, you can use CTRL+F to find it across the sheet.

@zealvert How are you creating a sheet filter to show and hide columns?

Column filter: this is not necessarily a filter, but I create a row for each set of columns that I want to filter when I create a particular view. I set up a row for each filter, as a child of the parent ‘Column filters’. I then shade each cell for the particular column with a black highlight. When I want to filter out certain columns I then refer to the row with the highlighted cells and hide those columns that do not have the highlighted cells. It is a manual process but at least I do not need to think about the columns I want to view and those I want to hide (other than the first time when I highlight the applicable cells.

@zealvert . Thank you. Just to be clear that I understand the suggestions, I have some follow up questions:

Suffix: CY214 will be distributed throughout various columns and rows. There will be other references in addition to CY214 that I may need to find. Would these also be marked in the same way if I wanted to find/ filter for them? If so, would not the names in the columns become quite crowded, and perhaps reach the character limit of the column name?
Beginning or end: if I display CY214 in a cell, in order to enable the find function to work, and that cell also contains data, will the CY214 text interfere with the data
