Description:
In our grant process, applicants submit an application which is assigned an Auto-Number (e.g., FAC-00001) — this becomes their official Application Number.
When a grant is awarded, recipients are sent a unique URL to a report form where the Application Number is prefilled.
We would like to link the Application Number column in our Application Sheet to the corresponding Application Number in our Report Sheet using column linking in Table View, but Smartsheet does not allow this because the Application Number is an Auto-Number field.
Why This Matters:
- Ensures accurate cross-sheet data matching, especially for tracking grant progress or verifying submitted reports.
- Reduces manual entry and the risk of human error when connecting records based on system-generated IDs.
