Add document to Portfolio Work Apps

I am trying to add a document into portfolio work apps, however it is saying I do not have permission to do this. I am the owner of the workspace the document is saved in and I am owner of the document. The document is a report and is based off a document I am also Admin on.

I can add documents from lots of other workspaces but for some reason this won't work despite me being the owner.

Has anyone experienced this and found a solution?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi @Jen Davidson!

From what you describe, it sounds like the limitation may be related to how permissions and blueprints work in Portfolio WorkApps. It’s worth noting that WorkApps and Portfolio WorkApps aren’t the same:

WorkApps can be created directly from the WorkApps icon or the builder in the right navigation bar. From the builder, you can go to the plus icon and select WorkApps. Alternatively, you can navigate to workapps.smartsheet.com and log in with your Smartsheet credentials. More details here: Create and edit a WorkApp.
Portfolio WorkApps are created through Control Center, and their setup depends on the blueprint created and its configuration. Roles and pages defined in the blueprint appear with a lock icon and can’t be modified at the Portfolio level.

Even if you’re the owner of the report and workspace, if your role in the Portfolio WorkApp doesn’t allow adding pages, or if the blueprint doesn’t support that type of page, you may run into the permission error you’re seeing. If you’re the Project Owner or an Additional Lead, you should be able to add pages at the individual project level, but not override the blueprint.

If you’ve confirmed your role and blueprint setup but still can’t add the report, it may be best to check with your Control Center Admin to see if this restriction is blueprint-driven or role-driven.
