Form with multi drop down answers - need help to count correct choices

Hi All,

I have built a post training test form for a colleague, some of the questions have got multi answer choices (e.g. correct answers can be A, B, C, D or even choice of E - stating that all previous choices are correct; or could be that A,C,D are correct).

If correct choice is chosen, needs to return point 1 per each correct statement. If incorrect, can return 0. If 3 correct statements are chosen for the same question, I want helper column to return 3 as a total. If easier, I am happy to remove option E which says all above answers are correct as they expect this answer to negate any other choice and give total 4 points.

Any guidance would be great, I tried looking for similar posts but nothing really matched.

Good morning @Aiva , this is an interesting problem; I suspect there are many ways to go about this, but I would make a "key" row and then use formulas to score questions based on that row (then you could edit at will) but if you know the answers you could also hard-code them in as well. I think the catch with this approach is that you would either need an "answer scoring sheet" or to have a column per question for answer calculations (or a REALLY massive formula).

I got a helper column for each question so was hoping for a really massive formula!

Hey Aiva! If you already have a helper column for each question you should be golden! Just put in each helper column a formula that looks sometime like this:

=COUNTIF(QuestionColumn@row, HAS(@cell, "your answer(A)"))+COUNTIF(QuestionColumn@row , HAS(@cell , "your other answer(B)"))

That will add up each correct answer in each question. For your "all of the above" do something like this:

IF(HAS(QuestionColumn@row , "E"), Maxpoints(4?), (COUNTIF(QuestionColumn@row , HAS(@cell , "your answer(A)"))+COUNTIF(QuestionColumn@row , HAS(@cell , "your other answer(B)"))))

Then sum all your helper columns for a total.
