Getting an error "Web.Contents failed to get contents from 'https://api.smartsheet.com/2.0/home'

I have a PowerBI dashboard which I have connected to Smartsheet report which was functionining normally over the past year. I downloaded the latest version of the Power BI on 06-Oct-2025 [ Version: 2.147.1085.0 64-bit (September 2025) ]. I am getting the following error "Web.Contents failed to get contents from 'https://api.smartsheet.com/2.0/home' (500): Internal Server Error".

I've looked at other threads but unable to conclude on the issue hence raising a query here. As I understand this issue is being faced by many people from Jan-2025. Any help is deeply appreciated.

Steps that I've already taken to troubleshoot

Re-entered the credentials
Created a blank report with the same data source, which is working fine.

Thanks for the update, I was able to resolve the issue from my end in both PowerBI Desktop and PowerBI Server.

Not sure if the following steps/solution works for every one.

Here is the crux of the problem, the issue is only persistent if we have used Legacy Smartsheet connector in PowerBI, you might realise the legacy smartsheet connector is no longer available in the newer version of PowerBI.

So in order to overcome this issue, I went to the power query, selected the query with the issue, clicked on the source (under the heading APPLIED STEPS on the right side of the window), changed the line to "= SmartsheetGlobal.Contents("US", [])" and the issue got fixed.

I hope this step can be used by others to resolve the issue.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention! Our team is currently investigating errors with the Power BI connection. We are not able to provide a time-frame on how long the resolution could take but we are doing our best in order to have this fixed as soon as possible.
