Conditional Formatting

Hi all, and thanks in advance. I was trying to do a Conditional Format on this. I know how to do it in Excel, as I would use a formula, but I am having trouble with only the dropdown choices available. Okay, I want my CF to check if the 2 circled columns are the same. This instance does not show, however basically I am looking for (the Excel version). Can anyone help me convert that to a working formula within Smartsheet?

=TO/TDL Number <> TO/TDL Name

Hello @Sherry Fox! I've tried setting up a Conditional Formatting rule similar to the one you describe before… and I'm pretty sure that you can't do it directly. We can however set it up another way:

First, you would need a helper column that flags for whether the two columns are the same- this would probably use a similar formula to the one you use in Excel:

=IF([TO/TDL Number]@row <> [TO/TDL Name]@row, 1, 0)

Then set up your Conditional Formatting rule for "if Helper_column_name is checked".

This is not my sheet, it is a sheet owned by Leadership. I have contacted them explaining your idea to see if they will allow me to add a helper column. Will let you know how it works out.
