Replacing a JIRA system that was not really used well with Smart sheet and Sales force in a united front to try and perform work flow, report out, and track time, then export for billing back to Salesforce.
High level, we have a pre sales sheet that captures input from Salesforce on win, loss, and or type of project. Right now we have two types, custom, or work shop, I am adding a 3rd and we are looking at using Resource Management as the tool for help with tracking hours for it. Salesforce has a single source input, so the Master sheet, connector logic determines the columns, and I use Data Mesh to roll them up with some logic to that sheet for it to pull from. This would include work app blue print triggers, and then completed should move with logic to the completed sheet and notify back to Master for billing. When a custom project is created it spins up some actions to create a folder, import and kick off a new template project sheet. Well, I cannot for the life of me get that file replaced with the new template that we intend to use, and I am at a total loss with how to incorporate the RM tool into that other than it linked to the sheets where I instructed it to go. I do not understand how the % logic will work when I intend to use it for hours and allocations for engineering time against project time tied to the SOW for the client. I also need to stand up the engineers with the proper access, create them, and then tie them to this and train them how to use it!
Any suggestions? Am I doing it wrong? One of the things that I have encountered is this was setup by another person within our company and I keep running into rights issues where I have to ask him to pass ownership, or I just do not even see the things that he created, for instance Data Mesh logic, so I had made my own, which broke his, and so on. ugh
The ground work and leg work are there, I just need to push this over the hump and add in the right tools in the proper place. Right? :)
Your thoughts, would you do this the way I am, a better way, thank you for anyone with comments.
