Formula Help Extracting Month Only from Formula Driven Column

Hi all- I need help trying to extract the month number from another column.

My 'Notification Date' column uses a formula (based on the service 'Type') to calculate a specific timeframe. I need to extract only the month from this 'Notification Date' and populate it in the 'Annual Review Month #' column.

I was good until I had to change the setup, where the 'Notification Date' is now formula-driven. This is causing my extraction formula to fail, resulting in various errors despite trying multiple AI-suggested formulas. The 'Annual Review Month #' column is set as text, and the 'Notification Date' column can be a date or text format. I need a formula that can handle the input from the formula-driven 'Notification Date' column and reliably extract the month number.

Hi @Paul Newcome, it is:

=IF([Policy Type]@row = "manual", [Annual Review Date]@row - 90, IF(OR([Policy Type]@row = "directive", [Policy Type]@row = "General Order - DPP and MPC Only", [Policy Type]@row = "Special Order - DPP and MPC Only", [Policy Type]@row = "Post Order"), [Annual Review Date]@row - 60, "")) + ""

Policy type is a drop down column and Annual Review Date is a date column.

@Tricia_S, it looks like the [Notification Date] is two months prior to the [Annual Review Date]. Can you skip taking the month from the [Notification Date] and take the month from the [Annual Reivew Date] - 2 months?

=IF(MONTH([Annual Review Date]@row ) > 2, MONTH([Annual Review Date]@row ) - 2, MONTH([Annual Review Date]@row ) - 2 + 12)

Ok. Make the [Notification Date] column a Date type column and remove the + "" from the end of the formula.

The + "" is turning it into a text string which means there is no "month" to pull from it.
