Formula with date column weirdness

Hi all! Happy Thursday.

I have a formula that I created that is looking to calculate a number of cells that meet the specified criteria on a particular cell that inputs a date when a box is checked through an automation.

What I am noticing however is that the formula is calculating items that are earlier than the specified date. As shown below, the formula is looking for computes with a date between FEB 1 and FEB 28 however it calculated 1 that is in OCT.

At first I thought it may be because I was missing a comma between the dates, but that returns an invalid argument.

I am confident it's something super simple I am overlooking and I know a formula wizard in the community will sus that out for me pretty immediately.

=COUNTIFS([Date Completed]56:[Date Completed]64, >= DATE(2026, 2, 1), [Date Completed]56:[Date Completed]64, <= DATE(2026, 2, 28))

Looks like this did it. Why would this work whereas the other will not though? I'll need to update my sheet formulas for all months to reflect this change.

I don't know how the original formula wasn't in error, actually. Do you have a sheet with many "total rows" showing a completion number for a given month?

Not really. This sheet is for tracking our replacements for our FY and we have a goal set to ensure that a certain percentage of all of our replacements are on track and replaced in the specified month. So this formula is working to calculate how many computers are completed and marked complete within the month they are to be replaced, to then roll up into a grand total of how many were completed in the year in the month specified to then calculate a percentage.

It's kind of complicated and something new so this was my quick solution. Just had an idea to calculate the early and late replacements too so now trying to adjust the formula to meet that need.
