SS Control center: Disconnecting an existing profile data column...

I may be over thinking this but I want to be certain before making any changes.

I have a multi-tiered CC solution. The first tier is customer level and the second tier is Project level. In the Project level toolkit I have a Project plan sheet that is the source of truth for the columns "Execution Status" and "Delivery Date." My users update those columns in the Customer: Project: Project Plan sheets and that info gets linked back to the Project Summary sheet and ultimately the Project Intake Sheet as it is Profile data.

I have been asked to allow the users to apply their updates directly in the Project Intake sheet. This would require me to disconnect the columns as profile date from the individual Project Plan sheets. I have found a lot of instruction on adding profile data to a blueprint but nothing about removing it.

Any insight on how to accomplish this would be helpful.

Hi @RJMSourcewell,

You can first remove the cell links in the Intake sheet that are pulling data from the Toolkit sheet. You can do this by right-clicking on each linked cell and selecting “Remove Link”.

You could then replace the linked columns in the Intake sheet with new columns where users can manually enter data. Just make sure the column types match the data you want to input (e.g., text/number, date, dropdown).

If there’s data in the previously linked fields that you want to retain, copy it from the Toolkit sheet to the new manual entry columns in the Intake sheet.

Once you’ve ensured all necessary data is transferred and the Intake sheet is updated, you can safely delete the Toolkit sheet.

Take a look at this help article: Smartsheet Control Center: Define and track your project with project profile data, particularly this suggestion:

If you want others to provide information on an intake sheet, generate a report and share it with the users instead of sharing it directly. This way, the data syncs back to the sheet. If you use a column formula or cell formula instead, it might break the solution if it's a profile data field mapped in Control Center or used for the Resource Management Integration. If the column isn’t used for profile data, you can use a column or cell formula.

I read the article and my apologies but it's still not clear.

If I have Profile data that is being linked to the Intake sheet upon toolkit creation and I want to make those fields manually enterable on that Intake sheet and delete the Toolkit sheet they were coming from originally … how do I do that?
