I am writing to request that the Smartsheet for Gmail Add-on be updated to support the Smartsheet AU Region as a matter of priority.
Currently, organisations hosted on the Sydney-based AU instance are unable to utilise the Gmail integration that is standard for US-based accounts. For Australian enterprises that rely on Google Workspace, this creates a significant workflow gap.
The Problem:
- Regional Disconnect: The current Gmail Add-on does not appear to recognize or authenticate against the
app.smartsheet.au environment. - Workflow Inefficiency: Users in the AU region cannot quickly turn emails into rows or update task status directly from their inbox, a core feature of the Smartsheet/Google integration.
- Adoption Barrier: As more Australian companies move to the AU region for data residency compliance, they are inadvertently losing access to key productivity tools. Consider what it would be like running a company that has Smartsheet in both the AU region and in the US and when the two sides interact, they - in some respect - have totally different experiences of Smartsheet and the same processes, procedures, policies and inhouse training materials can not be used to the full extent.
The Request:
Please update the Smartsheet for Gmail Add-on to include a Region Selector (apparently the mobile app has something similar, but I can't yet confirm) so that AU users can authenticate and sync their data to the local Sydney instance.
Feature parity across all regions is essential to ensure that Australian customers aren't forced to choose between data residency and platform functionality. Sometimes this isn't even an option for companies that need to meet mandatory requirements around compliance and privacy.
