Third party extensions

Good morning fellow SmartSheetians!

I just have an off-the-wall question I guess. How is it we can't get some basic features we need in Smartsheet (like being able to sort a filtered list and such), yet if we pay for an extension we can get those features???? Why do we have to consider paying for something that should be readily available anyways???

Just asking. Not trying to poke the bear, but I have been bombarded lately about paying for extensions that should already be basic features. Just curious on y'alls thoughts on it.

Because Smartsheet has other projects that they have prioritized over these other features whereas the third parties can / have chosen to dedicate more time and resources to that specific thing.

It is easier for third parties to develop these extensions because they don't have the same amount of responsibility for the Smartsheet app as a whole.

For example, Smartsheet is working on back-end efficiencies to help the platform run better as a whole. Since these third parties have nothing to do with that, they have more time and resources to dedicate to developing something that can sort filtered sheets.

While I do understand the frustration feeling like something should work a certain way natively, but it doesn't so you have to pay, Smartsheet as a platform has different development priorities than a third party.

The best thing we can do as users is submit our product ideas here. This allows other users to vote on these ideas and let Smartsheet know what its customers want. I can't remember the exact frequency or numbers, but the Smartsheet Dev Team does regularly look through these ideas and pulls those with the most amount of votes.
