COUNTIFS from two columns on a reference sheet

I have a reference sheet where I'm trying to count the instances of "Needs Review" from the "Status" column and then add a COUNTIF the "Most Recent Action Date" column as a date in that column. I can write the two formulas individually, but I don't know how to put them together in one cell.

I get unparseable when I try to put the two formulas together: =COUNTIFS({Status & Date in Most Recent Action Date}, metric@row , + ({Most Recent Action Date}, ISDATE(@cell ) = true)

Make sure both {Ranges} are single column selections.

Try removing the + and ( from the middle of the formula as well as the = true from the end.

=COUNTIFS({Status & Date in Most Recent Action Date}, metric@row, {Most Recent Action Date}, ISDATE(@cell))

That left me with this:

=COUNTIFS({Status & Date in Most Recent Action Date}, metric@row , ({Most Recent Action Date}, ISDATE(@cell ))

….but still get the unparseable error.

You still have the open parenthesis to remove from the middle. Take a look at my example.

Now I'm getting incorrect argument set.
