Hi SS Community!
I have a feeling this maybe a simple answer, but I have looked on the internet with no resolve:
I have "Project Plans" for each one of my projects. I use dependency settings.
For dates I have Start Date, Due Date, ESTIMATED NUMBER OF DAYS TO COMPLETE, Estimated Completion Date and Complete Date (Record)
Some teams are ALWAYS behind, and they are constantly providing me a new "Estimated Completion Date". I currently have an automation set up to send me an email when this is provided to manually update the end date, so the next deliverable isn't late for the next "Assigned to"
Using the dependency settings, it won't let me set up a workflow to automatically change this date under "due date" if a new one is provided. I want to make this automated as it is very time consuming.
How do I make sure the "Due Date" reflects the date when the person has either actually marked the deliverable "complete" or provided a new "Estimated Completion Date" to that date so the next deliverable is calculated according to actual? Formula?
I have tried to change it in Project Settings to "Complete Date (Record) but then the due dates are auto populated there and not under "Due Date".
Basically, I want to show the working team this is the "Start Date" and this is the "Due Date", and this is the date the person is saying it will be done "Estimated Completion Date" I need to automatically push the next deliverable out to when the person is advising the new "Estimated Completion Date" Is there a formula? Do I have this set up wrong?
I have been asked to keep track of the original agreed upon due date and compare it to when the deliverable is actually completed.
Example: John has a deliverable that needs to be completed before Sally. He has pushing this out by 3 weeks and provided a new Estimated Completion Date how does the "Due Date" update for Sally's task just because John is late it shouldn't make Sally late.
I know I could record the original agreed upon date, but what do I do if the person before pushes out the date? This will be a ding on every task proceeding. When it is not their fault.
Just trying to figure out an easy less manual updates to the timeline.
Thanks!
Christine
