One way we use Smartsheet is to record real-time data that is then stored and referenced. I work at an aquarium so, for example, we will take daily measurements across multiple systems for things like temperature, salinity, pH, and on and on. The same parameters are tracked for all of our systems, but the thing is, there are 50 individual sheets for each individual system. It's quite the process to navigate back and forth, especially for new users, so I'm trying to find an easier way to do this. I found information regarding using INDEX and MATCH functions to cross-reference sheets, which gave me the idea to create a form to submit real-time data onto a master grid that is then fed directly into the individual, 50 system sheets.
For example, I would like technicians to be able to take a salinity measurement from system A, open a form for a master sheet and select System A from a drop-down in one field, input the salinity in another field, and then once the form is submitted, Smartsheet automatically recognizes that, because system A was selected, it should be copied onto a new row in the individual system A grid sheet.
If anyone has any resources, ideas, or if I am somehow not the first crazy person to think of this, I'd love to hear it! This is a tall ask but it would be amazing for our organization's ease of use.
