When selecting attachments for an Automation Workflow, we should have the option to include all the attachments in the notification email instead of sending only the last attachment if it was attached after the last save of the sheet.

We use sheet automated workflows to send our Account Mangers information when a project is closing. We include attachments as part of the information they receive. This can be 1 or more attachments that need to go to this group. Currently we have an automation that triggers to send this information to them, however it will only send 1 attachment when there are multiple. In addition, if you try to re-trigger the automation on the row, it will not add the attachment to the notification email. Currently the work around is to instruct the user to click on the row number in the Email to download or view all attachments.
Can an enhancement be put in place that will send all attachments in these notifications each time it is triggered. - Thanks!

@Andrée Starå even when using update request and selecting that message include attachments, no attachments come through the emailed update request which is what we are all saying here including the original poster that says they are using update request but no attachments come through.
I agree with others.
I also vote for better attachment capabilities.
I'd like to be able to send just the attachment without sheet links in an alert. (Your request is completed, attached is what you need.)

Agree that this feature is much needed. The idea has been on the Smartsheet development team ‘Radar’ for over two years. And was posted a year before that. We can only hope that 180 up-votes count for something, and we get some feedback on it soon.
I'd love this as well, emails should include the attachments too so that users can simply review without going into smartsheets.
The integration with DocuSign is a huge value-add! But once the Document is signed, we often need to send it to stakeholders that arent the sender or the signer. I created a workaround solution using automation (alert someone) but there are two problems: 1) the automation customization provides optionality to include the entire sheet, the entire. sheet with specific fields, or message only. But does not allow me to ONLY send specific fields. This means I have to send a link to my entire sheet. Even though the customer receiving the email does not have access to my sheet, its not a customer -friendly way to send this info. Which brings me to #2) the email looks terrible! I mean, deal-breaking bad.
Smartsheets already has the ability to manually send these attachments, and that email looks great! Why can't we enable that same functionality to be applied to automations. It seems to me that automating external communication in specific formats must be a very common need
Leaving my comment with the same hopes. I would love this function for sending out QR codes that presenters use for checking students in. I pull all QR codes at the beginning of a semester, but don't send QR codes out until the day of a workshop. I'd love to be able to automate this process. If workshop date = Today's date, send attachments to presenter.
The Smartsheet Forms currently do not include the attachments in the notification emails as soon as the form has been submitted. Therefore, the Approver and the End Receiver are not able to see the attachments instantly and will have to go to the link to access the table and download from there. We use the Smartsheet Forms for routing and approval of payment requests and the attachment function currently adds manual work to an otherwise automated process.
@Jan Vincent Gabriel This is a pretty common request. So much so that while this is on the enhancements list for review, I created a course showing how to do this using Power Automate:

Thank you, Darren! I checked the article however our IT team confirmed I do not have Premium license for Power Automate. Will this limit my options to execute the steps in your proposed solution?
Hi @Jan Vincent Gabriel - not sure if Darren followed up with you on this. You need to have a premium license to send attachments using Power Automate. I didn’t have one in a previous role at first, but after upgrading, sending automated emails from Smartsheet quickly became one of the most heavily used solutions for my team. I was constantly getting requests to set up new workflows that sent emails with attachments for different projects. It's also a great value, a lot less expensive than other tools used to bridge Smartsheet to other apps.

Would LOVE this feature - would be great to control what attachements user can see/ Current workaround is to copy rows to another sheet to trigger the "when attachements added" automation, but this breaks the "Triggering Users" email, as it shows from being automation account
I too have been struggling with workarounds on this issue for months! To me, it doesn't make sense that it was built this way to begin with. Why only have alert automations send the link to the attachment when the attachment is the trigger (and that's not intuitive - I learned that by trial, error & frustration). Further, when the attachment is NOT the trigger, why even have the ability to select "an attachment" as a field to be shown in the email when it doesn't work??
In this scenario, this is a failure of the automation logic/limitations and not an "enhancement", whether the intent of Smartsheet was to show attachments or not. If the background logic is built to never provide visibility to attachments in the email unless the attachment is the trigger (even when "an attachment" is selected at a field option to be included), then "an attachment" should NOT be an option of fields to choose from when selecting which fields to show in the email!! For this reason, this NOT an enhancement…it's an issue in Smartsheet that is not working!! It needs to be fixed to accurately show what IS available and what will populate to eliminate confusion, frustration and wasted time. If it's in the drop down list as an option, then it should populate in the email - that how things work, and this is not working.
However, the enhancements that everyone else has suggested for this should absolutely be in place, and it should've been built that way from the start. The current design is confusing for users and email recipients alike, and causes loads of avoidable work for everyone in the workflow. Why is this not already on a roadmap when it's a basic function and clearly a widespread need??
Attention to Smartsheet Developers:
Please please listen to our needs, this feature is very much needed. I cannot vote enough to stress this need. I should not keep telling my company peers that "Thi is a Smartsheet limitation" ; should I?
