Update Assigned Person only for active phases

Hi, I’m using Smartsheet with a Master Sheet(All over Projects Basic Summary) and Individual project sheets that have multiple phases.

When I change the Assigned Person in the Master Sheet, I want:

•It to update only phases that are Not Started or In Progress

•It should not change phases that are Completed

Is this possible? What’s the best way to set this up?

With Direct formula Update, Automation or Datamesh is No but with little manual intervention yesFor your template add one more helper column

Current Assigned Person (Helper Formula Column in Template)

So In Your Project Template add formula
=IF(Status@row = "Completed", [Assigned Person]@row,
IF(OR(Status@row = "Not Started", Status@row = "In Progress"),
INDEX(COLLECT({Master Assigned Person}, {Master Project ID}, [Project ID]@row),1),
[Assigned Person]@row))

once phase converted to completed create one automation for PM to update that for particular row update request in that Assigned Person so he will update that then this formula will work

Hello,

use Smartsheet automation-workflow with conditions:
When the Assigned Person changes from the Master Sheet, update the Assigned Person in the project sheets only if Phase Status is Not Started or In Progress.
Completed phases are excluded via automation conditions, so they remain unchanged.

Thank you for your suggestions , Automation only allows copy/move rows between sheets; it doesn’t update or change values in another sheet.
Because of this limitation, my conditions are not being met in the Individual Project sheet.
