i'm looking at whether to use survey monkey or smartsheet for a client survey. I'd like to be doing regular surveys so am thinking smartsheet. Has anyone used it for this purpose? What should I know before I start? Is it better than survey monkey?

I have used both. What you get from Survey Monkey is more out-of-the-box metrics and a more customizable user experience.
I have also used both together - integrated via Zapier (www.zapier.com). It is only one way (no Actions for Survey Monkey yet) but I wanted the data in Smartsheet anyway.
It depends on your exact situation and what sort of surveys / frequencies you are doing and what you are doing with the data afterwards.
Your mileage may vary.

You could also use the integration with Google Forms.
