Update Requests
Is there a way to set the period of time an Update Request is good for? (e.g. set an Update Request link expiration date) I'm running in to the issue of needing to access the Update Request more than once.

...My scenario is: we have contractors that need to view data provided in an update request (ideally without having to save a screenshot), and then they have several weeks to perform their task. The ability to return to the data within the update request link/form for reference, and ultimately the ability to return to the update form to input their task results, would be a HUGE win for us and moving forward with Smartsheet handling this process.
Is there another way of accomplishing this process outside of update requests? (the goal of not giving outside contractors access to the entire sheet).

Adding to this old thread - because I am wondering the same thing.
I am using an update request automated through a checkbox column, to take attendance for my meetings.I would love to have the update request available for only 10 minutes or so, to avoid people "fudging" their attendance at the meeting.
Is this at all possible, or something that may be possible in the future?

Hi,
You could lock the row automatically after the update request is complete.
Would that work?
I hope this helps you!
Have a fantastic week!

Thanks for the quick response!
Unfortunatey I want to be able to prevent someone from updating the row after 10 minutes, or so even if they haven’t completed the update request yet. This way they can’t say they were at the meeting when they weren’t.
Do you know if update requests expire at all? Like after a few days? Because I’m thinking it would work if I just locked the rows manually - they’re all under a parent row - so could quickly collapse and then just lockdown the parent, therefore locking them all, correct?

Happy to help!
If you do it manually, you can select multiple rows and lock all of them at the same time, but it will not work if just the parent is locked, or actually, it could work with a rule for locking the row in Alerts & Actions and a formula on the sheet.
I don't know if/when they expire. My guess would be 30 days.
Would that work?

Andrée

No - I need to it be much shorter than that. But it's not a big deal I suppose.
What kind of formula do you think would be required on the sheet? If I were to lock them with an alert/action? Maybe a simple "Checkbox" related rule - when checked, lock row?
-
Yes, a simple checkbox formula setup would work. Maybe check the parent checkbox and all the children is also checked from a link to the parent.
