I'm having the same issue - Mac OS, Safari browser, copy column/selected column in excel 2013 to Smartsheet (column or selected column) doesn't operate (paste options greyed out). Import isn't possible without export/manipulate file/import which defeats the purpose of the smart sheet (and adoption of the product) and now shows I made updates to all cells instead of retaining author for other fields. Can we get a quick fix from smartsheet for this?

I was looking up this issue as I was having a similar problem. I just figure it out. I was selecting one cell in Smartsheet thinking when it pasted it would automatically drop down to the cells below like excel does. It was pasting everything in that cell. Once I selected the correct number of cells in Smartsheet it pasted correctly. Hope this helps someone else!

Dont know if this helps but I found that copy/paste from an Excel 97-2003 in read-only didnt work.
Re-saving it in .xlsx format and reopening the file made copy/paste work.

I am having this issue, however, I don't even have the option of pasting either from Excel or from another Smartsheet. I copy the data and when I go to paste, the option is greyed out. I am using the most up to date version of Chrome. I have had this issue for some time now and realize it has been an issue on here for the last year and I am surprised there has not been a more permanent solution as opposed to all these workarounds. Has support made any moves to rectify this? If there is any help out there, thanks in advance.

Been in a Smartsheet Enterprise account for a few months now and all of a sudden, I can't copy and paste from my Excel sheet into Smartsheet. I mean this is crazy. I can't update my main datablock. It's only about 1700 rows and I respect the 50 column, 500 row limits. I mean I do this 2 to 3 times daily. And yesterday afternoon, I hit CtrlV and the screen blinks for a split second and that's it. Like it didn't understand the paste command. Wtf. This is like a major problem and now I find out it isn't even uncommon. Tried Chrome, IE, Edge. Two different computers.
