Can dependencies by automatically set by Assigned User? i.e. Fred has 5 tasks each will will take a day - can the start and end date be automatically set with dependancies?
Not that I am aware of.

Maybe SS can add a predecessor link button link MS Project which would make it quicker. So you could highlight all tasks and click the predecessor link botton.
If you are linking tasks together using predecessors, dates will automatically be added when you add a predecessor, as long as the proceeding task contains a date.
