find deleated items
I am looking for a way to track items logged on a web form or a way to find if a line item has been deleted

Hi! Notifications are automatic emails that are sent when changes are made to a sheet. You could have notifications set up that can inform you whenever a row is deleted from your sheet.
Creating regular backups of your sheet will enable you to restore deleted data and compare your sheet with the backed version (to identify deleted items). If you had an Auto-Number column in your sheet, you can use these unique numbers to identify deleted rows.

Travis,
Can you elaborate on the notification being sent when a row is deleted? Is that the same as a notification when anything changes?
-
Stephanie, that is correct! It will be the same email you receive when other changes are made to your sheet.

Thanks Travis!

Hi Travis, it would be nice to have a clear option to receive a notification if someone delete a row. I don´t want to receive a notification if anything chages, I want to receive only if someone delete a row.

Thanks for the suggestion, Paulo! I will add your vote for this.
-
That would be a perfect solution

+1 vote for me too please.

Just a thread bump to keep this one alive. It's getting old, and if we can't get the data security of preventing row deletions, or of having TRUE backups, then this feature is a great band-aid.
-
we share our sheets with locations all over Europe and we just lost over 600 rows and no way for us to find out how it happend or who did it!
-
Shaun,
If you are subscribed to notifications, you should be able to find out who did it. You can restore some of the rows from your backups, via copy paste, but it will look shoddy - if you can find out which rows have disappeared with perfect accuracy (which is hard because SS does not tell you which rows were deleted - only that some were deleted).
This just highlights again how important this issue is and how frustrating it is that SS allowing this year-old system flaw to continue. In order to maintain data security, you the system owner have to keep close tabs on the work of your users and keep vigilant backups.
SS - PLEASE FIX THIS!!!
