My gantt chart does give me the option under timeline display to put in 2015. It only has 2016 so now my reports say 2016 and 2017 on the gantt. What have I done wrong. I need it to say 2015-2016.

A link or a screen shot would help. Is your report the same as your Gantt? The full scope of your problem is unclear to me.

The picture helps...It is displaying your fiscal year of 2016 which started in April. I think that is the disconnect.
You're going to have to choose if you want to diplay fiscal or calendar year. If you want calendar year, change the start of the fiscal year to January. It will of course depend upon your business requirements.
