Critical Path - Remove a set of tasks from the CP

Does anyone know if it is possible to remove a set of tasks and subtasks from the critical path? I have a set of tasks that are in my project plan and need to be done after launch but I only want the tasks that get our product launched to be on the critical path, not the post-launch activities. Please let me know!

Hello,

The Critical Path will always include any and all tasks that can immediately impact the project end date if that task's end date is changed. The project end date will always be the latest date on your project sheet.

To work around this you can create a separate sheet to track your post-launch tasks and then use a report to make a master Gantt chart: https://www.smartsheet.com/blog/how-to-create-master-gantt-charts

You can also let our product team know that you'd like the ability to remove items from the Critical Path by clicking on the Submit Product Enhancement Request link on the right-side pane of Community pages.

Alternative work-around:

Add a line that has a long duration and make the final pre-launch item a predecessor to it. As long as your new fake line has an end date past any other, you will see the critical path you want.

@Vince T I found this post here Jul'25 and would like to hear more about this idea. But I cannot envision what you are describing and how that will solve the original question. Yet I, too, have this need. Can you explain/draw it out a bit further so I can catch the vision? If this works, it would indeed be a sweet work around.

I have issue about dashboard view. Even the settings are published as 'anyone see the link content' but the content does not open in pc. The link does not work. Do you know how it is fixed?
Use Emails in Text/Number field in an Automation?
On a form, I have a field set to "Text/Number" as the "Field Type" with "Validation" → "Email" selected for that field.
