Deleting Cross-Sheet Reference Cache
Hello,
I made some cross-sheet references and decided not to use some and tried to change their names or delete the ones I was not using. However, I noticed that if I renamed a reference to a name that was previously being used before I would receive a notice stating that the name was already in use, but it wasn't. Does anyone know if there is a way to manage references to delete the ones that are not in use so as to clean out the cache without completely wiping it out?
Thank you

Hi Henry,
Cross-sheet references are deleted automatically after 2 hours, and unfortunately, there isn't a way to manage the references.
Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.
I hope this helps you!

Hi Henry,
You can delete existing cross-sheet references by going to the source sheet, hovering over one of the cells being referenced, and clicking "delete" in the tooltip (see screenshot).
Best regards,
Daniel

Hi Andree,
So after those two hours I will be able to change the names that were previously not in use? If so, then that's great to know.
Thank you -
Happy to help!
Yes, I believe so.
Have a fantastic weekend!

I tried to create a formula with a cross sheet reference. Ended up having to delete the row because of other problems and now trying to recreate the row. When I try to use the previous cross sheet reference name it tells me that it is already in use...even though the formula containing that reference was deleted.
I notice this request is almost 2 years old. has the cross reference sheet deletion not been fixed yet?

Hi @Chris Rea
Did you delete it in the source sheet (as described above) and if you did, are you sure that you deleted them all?
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic week!

@Andrée Starå is this still a thing? I used the API to create a bunch of cross sheet references and they keep disappearing when I come to the sheet later.
