Updates to SmartSheet - do other editors/viewers get notified?

When a smartsheet is updated or changed, do other editors/viewers get notified of changes?  Or, do they simply see them when they login?

Hi Chuck..the alert function only works with shared users of the workspace.  Do you know if there is a way to add an alert option for someone that only has access through a publish link?

Users will only be notified of changes if you have set up the notifications in the "Alerts" section a the bottom of the sheet.  If you have not set up notifications, they can see the changes when they access the sheet if the Highlight changes (left toolbar) feature is turned on and set appropriately.

If the sheet has been published using the "Edit by Anyone" the "highlight changes" option is available on the menu.  If the sheet is published as a "viewer" only the option is not available.  Hope this helps

Hi Chuck..the highlight changes is a nice feature for sure.  However, it's not what I was asking about.  If I have shared a published link with a user instead of adding them as a shared user of my workspace is there a way to send them an alert if anything changes on the sheet?

Sorry about that.  No, there is currently not a solution to alert someone who you have shared teh published link with.  Smartsheet would ned to have their email and a notifcation set up, which can only happen when a sheet has been shared.

Hi Tony-- We don't allow sending Notifications through Smartsheet to users who aren't shared on the sheet in an effort to prevent spamming through the application, however you might be able to set this up using a third party application called Zapier: https://zapier.com/app/min/2511/start.
