Formula Issues

Hey all,

Wondering if you could help with an issue. I need to get an average (days) for a column, but referencing another column. For example, I have 2 options (Existing and New) in a drop down list in one column and in another column I have total days. I'm trying to get an average of days for each of the options.

I would do =sumif()/countif() with the criteria being if "Existing Store" is in the range then do the same for "New Construction"

is this what your formula looked like?

=SUMIF([Location Type]:[Location Type], "New Construction", [Sample Request to Receipt]:[Sample Request to Receipt]) / COUNTIF([Location Type]:[Location Type], "New Construction")

It was. Looks like I transposed the i and e in receipt. lol Totally missed that. Thanks a bunch.

They have actually rolled out a few months ago an AVERAGEIF function that sounds like it would be a perfect fit (and much shorter).
