Copy INTO a sheet?
I know it's possible with the workflow to conditionally copy or move rows to another sheet. I'm wondering if it is possible to copy rows INTO the same sheet, FROM another sheet, based on a condition. I can't see any way to do this with a workflow.
Functionally, what I'm trying to do is add a bunch of sub-tasks to a task based on the type of task. I was going to have the sub-tasks on another sheet, and copy them into the sheet when the new task was identified.
Any thoughts on how this could be achieved, perhaps using some other method?

Hi Norman,
Interesting!
Maybe something could be structured with cross-sheet formulas instead. I did something similar for a client recently.
Would that work?
Can you describe your process in more detail and maybe share the sheet(s)/copies of the sheet(s) or some screenshots? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help. (share too, andree@getdone.se)
I hope that helps!
Have a fantastic weekend & Happy Holidays!

You could set up a column in the sub-task sheet that uses cross sheet references to look at the target sheet and trigger off of this new formula column.

@Paul Newcome 2 minutes! We need an indicator that someone is typing! 🤣

Hahaha. That's not a bad idea though. On the bright side... At least the OP knows that they are going to get some timely assistance.

Unfortunately, the cross-sheet reference doesn't work for me. I want to be able to copy in several rows, including the initial columns (with attachments, etc.), indentation, and so forth. I can't really get that to work with a lookup type of function--or at least, I haven't been able to figure out how.

@Norman Clark If you need the indentation, then it has to be already in the sheet, and it won't work with copy rows, but maybe through the Smartsheet API. Is that an option?

@Paul Newcome Haha! Yes, it's probably better that the OP gets more answers/alternatives.
