Comparison of two cell with smartsheet

Hi community

I'm trying to do something pretty easy but couldn't go further on my own.

I have one column where users from one site will answer in every cells "Yes, maybe, no" through a 3 choices list (column Baudouin) that shows symbols (green square ,orange square , red square) depending of the answer

And another column do the same for another site, colmumn Weichai.

I just want on another column to do comparison of the answer, if both answer are green i have true if they are different i have false.

Hi Michael,

Try something like this.

=IF(OR(ISBLANK(Baudouin@row); ISBLANK(Weichai@row)); ""; IF(AND(Baudouin@row = "Green"; Weichai@row = "Green"); "True"; "False"))

The same version but with the below changes for your and others convenience.

=IF(OR(ISBLANK(Baudouin@row), ISBLANK(Weichai@row)), "", IF(AND(Baudouin@row = "Green", Weichai@row = "Green"), "True", "False"))

Depending on your country you’ll need to exchange the comma to a period and the semi-colon to a comma.

So if i want to add more comaprison conditions shouldi go like this ?

Do you always want it to show as true if both columns are the same except for when they are blank?

Then you should use this formula.

=IF(OR(ISBLANK(Baudouin@row); ISBLANK(Weichai@row)); ""; IF(Baudouin@row = Weichai@row; "True"; "False"))

If you want to have different answers for each control against the Yes, No and Hold critera you should use something like this. (Each IF is separated and will check until true)

=IF(OR(ISBLANK(Baudouin@row); ISBLANK(Weichai@row)); ""; IF(AND(Baudouin@row = "Yes"; Weichai@row = "Yes"); "Yes"; IF(AND(Baudouin@row = "No"; Weichai@row = "No"); "No"; IF(AND(Baudouin@row = "Hold"; Weichai@row = "Hold"); "Hold"; "False"))))

Make sense?
