Is there any way to make a task start and finish according to another task?
I am trying to allocate a secondary task (Task B) that should start at the same time that Task A, and finish at the same time too. Task A is the independent variable and Task B should follow (and adjust if Task A changes duration)
Thanks

Do you have dependencies turned on?

It worked for me. You may want to contact Support if it is not working properly with the SS and FF predecessors as it should be.

Dependencies are on. The issue is that I need to establish dependencies to the beginning and end of an activity.
Here is a simple diagram to explain the case:
Note: I tried adding <Task A "SS", Task B "FF"> and it doesn't work.
Thanks for the help

Unfortunately, this does not work for me, look:
Is there anything I am not doing right? (the duration was assigned automatically, as it should)
Thanks

You may want to reach out to Support. When you do, I suggest including a link to this thread.

Pretty disappointing answer from customer support...

Wow! Did you include a link to this thread so they could see that it is possible? Or maybe MY sheet is the one that's broken.
I'll try again and try to pay close attention to exactly what steps I am taking and in which order I take them. In the meantime, (entirely up to you) I would suggest replying to the email and referencing this thread again letting them know that it SHOULD be possible and there is an example of it working on here.

Ok. So to make this work, I initially set the dates on the 3rd row manually. Then I set my predecessors on Row 3 as discussed (SS and FF), and everything was being displayed as it should be.

Unfortunately, I cant solve your problem. I do want to point out though that this is a scenario I step into over and over again when trying to set up a planned project.
One task depends on two other like the way you describe.
+1 vote for a fix to this

I just replied the email from customer support putting special emphasis in the fact that other users are capable to do this. (I included the same link in the original ticket)
Let's see what they reply
Thanks for the support here in the community forum.

Hi Sebastian,
I would like to do more or less the same than you tried to do last year by having duration determined automatically function of a FS and FF dependencies. Did you find a solution since that time?
Thanks
-
@Cédric not really. I just broke it into more than one dependent task. One task for the "Task A ss" and another one for the "Task B ff".
Cheers

It boggles my mind that this hasn't been added by now. It feels like a basic function of any Gantt chart.
