Reporting from Gantt Chart

I am trying to export to PDF a specific section of a gantt chart in order to have updates automated. I want to be able to print a single whole parent line with included children lines and have them all show in the same gantt chart without including the rest of the parent lines.

I am able to do this now if I just export to PDF and spend some time making the formatting work and selecting the right lines and so on. I am really hoping there is an automated way to do this though. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@Jonathan G an easy way to do this is to do this:

    1. Add a REPORT ON column to your Gantt Sheet
    2. Set REPORT ON value to YES or any word actually.
    3. Create a report of the Gantt sheet that is based on the REPORT ON column.
    4. Export the report to PDF

  • Thank you! That's definitely one way to separate the right section into a report, but is there a way to send out the report as an exported PDF or email every 2 weeks or something? I can't find the same automation actions on the "report" as I can with the standard sheet. Everything else you suggested worked though (except for the parent/children positioning).

You can do this from the report menu --- choose Send as Attachment and use the Schedule link on the dialog.

    Hi @Jonathan G & @Mary_A,

    💡A quick tip.

In my client solutions, I’ve started to use the multi-select column, and I add all the different reports and what should be included in them. It works perfectly for defined ranges and to include parents or specific rows or similar.

    I hope that helps!

Be safe and have a fantastic week!
