Multiple predecessors for a task

Hi Community,

I would like to to set both Task A and Task B as predecessors of Task C. A and B end date would determine the start date of Task C through Finish to Start dependencies.

However, Task A and B can run in parallel (no dependencies to be set between A and B) but may have different end dates, thus, Task C should only start after the latest end date of A or B. Moreover, Task B may not be always necessary, therefore, in some cases Task B start and end date may be blank. Is there a way to automate this?

Hi @Alessandro Terranova,

Smartsheet will take all predecessors into account when determining the dates of the dependent task. For example: on Finish-to-Start relationships, Smartsheet will schedule the dependent's start date (task c) after the latest occurring end date of all predecessors (task a and b). However, if one of the predecessors doesn't have a start or an end date, the dependent task will also not have a start or an end date.
