Formula to insert date

I am trying to insert a formula for my start date column so that when my status column switches from "not started" to "in progress" the date automatically updates to the date when the status changed. Is this possible?

Hi Alexa,

Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment to lock in the date, but it's an excellent idea!

Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment

As a possible workaround, you could use the 3rd party service, Zapier, or by copying the row to another sheet and then collect the date back to the main sheet using cross-sheet formulas and INDEX/MATCH.

Would any of those options work/help?
