Individual Cell (Not Row or Column) Conditional Formatting

Greetings,

I am new to Smartsheet and am looking to change conditional formatting on individual cells (NOT the whole row or column).

As I track products being produced in our plant, I want to be able to have the individual cells for the Start Date column turn green once the date is 'in the past'.

Here is an example of what I am talking about with the specific cells highlighted:

I have looked through this group and do not see anyone answering how to have specific cells highlighted for dates like this.

Any help is appreciated,

I did the formatting you outlined above and it adds the formatting to the entire sheet, not a specific cell.

See example:

I only want the one cell for the production date to turn green, not the whole row or column.

Ok.

Then you'll need to add something that only identifies that row. You could add a condition for the Task Name or add a so-called helper column. For example, a checkbox one and check the box for rows where it should be used and use that in the condition.

Thank you for your response, I could not get it to work with your suggestions and in general, this is not an efficient way to do such a simple task.

I'll just assume that Smartsheet does not support this and move on without it.

I'm very annoyed that I have to use Smartsheet over MS Project for work.

Has this feature been added yet? I agree with Morgan in that it's frustrating not to have such a simple feature in smartsheets.

I agree with the people above. This is a simple feature that should be added.

The issue I see in @Morgan Denton's screenshot is that the conditional formatting is set to be applied to the "entire row". Clicking on that and only selecting the Start Date column should provide what is needed.

How is conditional formatting with a cell-based formula instead of a column-based criteria a feature we need to request…Has anyone at Smartsheets ever used Excel? Ridiculous
