Alerts based on lookup

I have a column in a sheet which is a Multi Select Dropdown with a number of roles listed. I want to set up alerts to individuals, sending them the rows in which their role is mentioned. The email addresses relating to each role are held in a separate sheet. Is there any way I can use lookup to send the alert to the correct email address without having to hard code this in the automation?

Hi @David Hull

Yes, you can add a so-called helper column (Contact Type) that would lookup the contact and then you’s use that for the alert.

Thanks. Will that work given that there are multiple values in each cell of the role column? I've tried doing it with vlookup but it comes back with "#NO MATCH".

No, I haven't managed to solve this. I would still be interested in a solution.

Unfortunately there is no way to make this truly dynamic because right now we are unable to use formulas to populate multiple usable contacts within the same cell. You would have to restructure your sheet so that each role has its own row.
